ATO Prefill – Pay As You Go (PAYG) Withholding

From July 2023, the details reported from your Single Touch Payroll (STP) will be used to pre-fill data at labels W1 and W2 on your employer ATO Online business activity statements.

ATO PAYG withholding pre-fill will be available from:

  • July 2023 activity statement for monthly PAYG withholders
  • September 2023 activity statement for quarterly PAYG withholders

ATO PAYG withholding pre-fill will appear when your activity statements are made available in ATO online services.

There will be times when you need to correct your pre-fill data. You will be able to change pre-filled amounts if they don’t match your payroll records. Remember, your software and payroll records should be the primary source of data.

You should continue to complete any remaining labels on your activity statements before you lodge and pay (where applicable) as you do now.

The ATO will make ATO PAYG withholding pre-fill available for digital service providers. They will determine if, and when they will use this in their products.

The ATO have published further guidance on ATO PAYG withholding pre-fill for activity statements.
